Now in its fourth year, the highly celebrated Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY) competition is delighted to announce the short-listed images for the 2019 competition.

Since it was launched in 2015, the competition has quickly grown in size and reputation to become one of the highlights of the wildlife photography year; in this competition cycle it received thousands of images submitted by photographers from 63 countries around the world. This year’s shortlisted images are sure not to disappoint, offering a breathtaking selection of the best bird photography the world has to offer.

Judged by TV presenter and conservationist Chris Packham, and a host of professional photographers and luminaries from the birding and publishing worlds, the competition aims to celebrate the art of bird photography, promote the photographers themselves, and raise awareness and money for worthwhile conservation causes.
